Game Review: Bloons TD 6

Game Review

Recently, I have been playing Bloons TD 6, a strategy-based tower defense game developed by Ninja Kiwi. The goal is to stop waves of balloons (called “bloons”) by placing monkey towers. Even though the concept is simple, the game offers a lot of depth through maps, upgrades, and strategy.

(Goal of the Game)

The goal is to prevent bloons from reaching the end of the track. You do this by placing towers, upgrading them, and using abilities. As the game progresses, stronger bloons appear and require better planning.

(Maps & Difficulty Levels)

Different maps and difficulty levels

The 85 Maps are divided into:

  • Beginner (25 maps)
  • Intermediate (25 maps)
  • Advanced (22 maps)
  • Expert (13 maps)
Each map has unique layouts such as loops, obstacles, or multiple paths.

(Enemy Types & Bloon System)

Bloon layers and progression system

Bloons are not all the same. They have a layer system:

  • Stronger bloons contain multiple layers
  • When popped, they split into weaker bloons
There are also special abilities:
  • Camo bloons → invisible to most towers
  • Regrow bloons → regenerate over time if not destroyed
  • Lead bloons → immune to normal projectiles
  • Black bloons → immune to explosions
Later in the game, powerful, zeppelin-shaped bloons appear:
  • MOAB-class bloons → very strong and release many bloons when destroyed
This system adds a lot of strategic depth.

(Tower Types & Classes)

Different tower classes

Towers are divided into:

  • Primary
  • Military
  • Magic
  • Support
Each category has different roles and strengths.

(Tower Upgrades & Progression)

Upgrade paths and progression system

Each tower has multiple upgrade paths:

  • Increase damage or speed
  • Extend range
  • Add special effects
This allows many different strategies.

(Monkey Knowledge)

Monkey Knowledge upgrade system

In addition to tower upgrades, the game features a system called Monkey Knowledge. This system allows players to unlock permanent upgrades that improve towers and gameplay mechanics.

These upgrades include:

  • Stronger starting towers
  • Additional abilities
  • Economic advantages (more money)

Monkey Knowledge adds long-term progression to the game and rewards players for continued play. It also allows for more advanced strategies and customization.

(Heroes)

Hero example: Adora - The High Priestess

Heroes are special units that level up automatically and have unique abilities. They can significantly change gameplay.

(Powers & Abilities)

Special powers

Players can use powers like boosts or special attacks in difficult situations.

(Multiplayer)

Multiplayer mode

The game also offers a multiplayer mode:

  • Play with up to 4 friends or other players
  • Share the map and defend together
  • Coordinate strategies
  • Different Map Split options for two players
In multiplayer, teamwork is important because players must manage resources and defense together.

(Gameplay & Strategy)

The gameplay focuses on strategy:

  • Placement of towers is important
  • Money must be managed carefully
  • You must adapt to enemy types

Gameplay example

(Graphics & Design)

The game has a colorful and cartoon-style design. It is easy to understand visually and makes the game enjoyable.

(Where to Buy)

Bloons TD 6 is available on multiple platforms:

  • Steam (PC) – Paid version with full features
  • Mobile (iOS & Android) – Available in app stores
  • Microsoft Store – Alternative PC version

The game is usually low-priced and often goes on sale, especially on Steam.

There are also optional in-game purchases, but they are not required to enjoy the game.

(Pros + and Cons -)

(+) Large variety of maps and modes
(+) Deep upgrade system
(+) Strategic gameplay
(+) Multiplayer option

(-) Can become repetitive
(-) Some content takes time to unlock
(-) Late game can feel slow

(Rating)

I give this game 8.5 / 10.
I would recommend it to players who enjoy strategy games.
